Monks on a roof

I was in Luang Prabang, Laos in time for the Laotian new year, known as "Bpee Mai". This is held at the same time as the better known Thai new year festival of Songkran.

As part of the festivities, all the buddha statues are taken out of the temples and put on public display in the temple compounds. When they're out, the locals take turns pouring water over the buddhas to clean them and for luck.

The monks in the picture are building a temporary structure to hold the buddha for the new year festivities.
