Pisa is an interesting place. The actual city is very grimy and industrial. Full of factories, run down houses and a lovely sense of decay combined with pockets of modernity.
The highlight is obvious the Campo dei Miracoli - the Field of Miracles, which contains the much visited Leaning Tower of Pisa. The whole area is marvelous. Even though the tower is the most visited part, the rest is very impressive too. The traditional Italian cathedral consists of a bell tower (this one leans), the baptistery and the actual cathedral building. Most tourists head straight to the tower, click click, then jump back on the bus. The other buildings are, however, just as impressive.
The classic photo to take at the tower is to place your hand so it looks like you're supporting the tower. This is my slightly sillier version.
