Wow. Iceland is an amazing place. For a place stuck in the middle of the Atlantic, there's a lot going on and a lot to see. Not to be missed, is the Blue Lagoon. It's a thermal pool next to a thermal power station. It's perversely fun to be paddling away in hot steamy waters whilst getting snowed on. There's a number of similar hot baths inside Reykjavik as well.
The countryside is also spectacular, due to all the volcanic activity. There's lots of lava flows, fault lines, waterfalls and other natural features.
Reykjavik itself is a fairly unassuming city. It has a bit of reputation as being a night life hot spot, but be warned, the drinks are hella expensive and the night life starts at about 1am...
The food is also quite good, provided you like weird lamb dishes and lots of fish. You can try puffin if you like, but I didn't.
