#5 Fiji

Christmas 2000 and it was time for a bit of South Pacific paradise. I went for a week to Fiji, staying at the Tokoriki resort in the Manamuka islands. It was great. The first night was spent in Nandi, then I caught the boat out to the island, stopping off at lots of other islands on the way to drop people off.

The resort itself was great. A traditional Fijian style bure hut 20 paces from the beach. Lots of sunbaking, snorkelling and general lazing about. I caught a sea plane back to mainland, which was great fun. I've never flown on a plane where the pilot wore no shoes and wore shorts!
