Does it count if you were born in a country? Hell yes!
Australia is a big place, with a small population. The centre is pretty empty of just about everything except sand and rocks. The majority of the population lives within 1 hour of the coast, so you have to make an effort to get to see the "outback". Most people just visit Sydney and maybe the reef.
