Penang - Kuan Yin Teng Temple

As you walk around Chinatown in Penang, you can't miss this temple. It's the one spewing forth vast amounts of smoke and smelling of incense. If you walk out of Fort Cornwallis, past the Clock Tower, it's on your right, a few blocks off the main street

It was a pretty impressive sight. There were loads of people worshiping at the temple. This involves burning a lot of incense and throwing a lot of paper items into a huge fire in the courtyard.

The heat coming off the braziers was intense. People had trouble getting close to chuck their offerings in.

There were also some enormous joss sticks in the ground. They're the biggest ones I've ever seen anywhere!

The temple is dedicated to Bodhisattva, the Goddess of Mercy who is revered by all the Chinese religions.
